FUMC Mission Opportunities
The FUMC Mission Team determines mission projects and educates the congregation on them. They seek to find ways to help make FUMC be more Christ Centered and Mission Minded by identifying ways for the congregation to get involved with hands-on mission. We seek to help people identify their passion for mission, enabling them to be more Christ centered and mission minded.
Throughout the months of July and August at FUMC, we are celebrating Christmas in July. Take a look at the ways you can get involved! Record what you bring and drop it in the box by the tree in the narthex! For every six items you bring in, you earn a cross to be placed on the Christmas Tree during Advent!
The missions that we are highlighting during the month of July in worship are missions that we support year round.
The Red Wagon Ministry is a ministry that was started several years ago. It works in conjunction with the food pantry at Saint Agnes Catholic Church and Zion Lutheran Church to provide food to the community throughout the year. The biggest project that Red Wagon specializes in is Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets, where we work with our neighboring churches to provide 25 food baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas to families in our community. If you would like to be involved with this ministry, please contact Sally Jones.
For many years, FUMC has supported the United Methodist Committee On Relief (commonly known as UMCOR) through donating school bags for children domestically and internationally. The list of supplies is short and costs about $12/bag. The bags are made in house by members of our church. If you are a sewer, we would love to share the pattern with you! Let Karen Daly know!
Another ministry we support with the Old Town Christian Outreach Center’s Baby Pantry. This ministry provides newborn layettes to mothers in the community of Saginaw. Throughout the year, we collect items for this ministry and deliver them to Old Town Christian Outreach as we remain in connection with this important ministry in Saginaw. The bassinet is the place where we collect these items at church, year round!
